This is real market research -- it won't make you rich, but it will make you some cash and won't cost you anything but a little time.
Surviving unemployment sure is tough. Emotionally you go through hell. The financial challenges are incredible. Stress is a constant companion. As you sit home alone while the rest of the world goes to work, you feel... so alone. This lonely blog post is testament to that. With any luck, a few more people will join in and help each other out.
Anybody out there?

Let yourself feel it
Of course this is going to suck, Jack. It's unemployment, one of the most stressful things a person can experience.
Anger properly directed can be useful. Bitterness and resentment... not so much. Take your anger into that hearing, make a passionate argument about how much money you made your former employer and KICK THEIR ASSES into paying your claim. Don't direct it at your family. Understand that this is stressful for your family too.
Good luck to you, man. Hope you find something soon.

MY SECRET FOR GETTING MY JOB
Hi Jack:
MY SECRET FOR GETTING MY JOB
(1) Look around you to see what is needed.
(2) Evaluate your skills to see if you can fill the need or obtain the necessary skills.
(3) Approach the organization or person you want to work for.
(4) Offer to work for "free" so that they can "evaluate" your skills.
(5) And keep looking - always have a plan just in case you get "laid off" again.
Good Luck!

I beat my former employer after three unemployment hearings
Hi, Jack,
One of the most stressful times of my life was when I was fired 15 years ago. I asked the guy who fired me for a reason for firing me. He said he'd send me a letter - never did. I only filed for unemployment to get a statement from them. Mistake.
They lied and lied and lied about me to an administrative judge in three hearings over the course of a year. I won each time and they appealed. I was told from a former coworker on the inside that they were afraid i was going to file a wrongful termination suit against them (I had plenty of cause) and they wanted to "show a history of fighting" me.
Don't know if this matches up to your situation at all. I see your post was several months ago, but sometimes these unemployment proceedings can drag out for an ungodly length of time.
Maybe they know they should not have terminated you and are afraid of a lawsuit.
I hope this response reaches you.
