Today it's my birthday, and as some of you know, it is a difficult period in my life. The unemployment issue is not as daunting as it used to be thanks to a solid year of hustling my butt off, but other things have got me in a twist. Going to therapy and working on it.

It's hard to look at yourself, but it's necessary. Nobody wants to glimpse those dark corners of their psyches, but you have to do it to clear out the nasty things that, left unchecked, grow there.

I don't know what to expect in the next year, but I do know that I'm going to work as hard as I can on myself and building my business. It will distract me from matters of the heart, and that's a good thing.

This may sound terribly selfish, but I am committed to one thing right now: Me. I can't be a force for good in the world unless I am a whole, healthy person.
