Another Problem for Unemployed: Identity Theft

As if you needed something else to worry about, it turns out that crooks are trying to steal your identity.

"There are so many people out there who are desperate to find a job," said Linda Foley, executive director of the Identity Theft Resource Center, a non-profit watchdog group based in San Diego. "Unfortunately, identity thieves are taking advantage of people in these uncertain times."

A poor credit report can hurt your chances of getting a job. How fair is that! You don't have a job so your credit suffers, then you can't get a job because you have bad credit. Now you have the additional worry of some jerk stealing what's left of your credit rating. Great. You can't expect these people to have any scruples, but it would be nice if they would not target people who are already in a world of hurt.

I strongly recommend getting one of those free trials of a service that monitors your identity. It was amazing -- and a little disconcerting -- to me to see what they can pull about you, but it's also reassuring to know that you are who you think you are in the Big Computer in the Sky.

Remember that information is power and protect yours! When is the last time you checked your credit reports, anyway?

I like this blog site

I very much like this blog site. In my next post I will make a link to it. I cannot believe there are people out there that would take advantage of the unemployed. Here we are trying to help them and there are others that are kicking them when they are down. What kind of world is that?

Anyway at my web site we welcome anyone that is looking for work to create a free google friend connect member profile with a name preceded by (AFH--Available For Hire). For example "AFH Handyman Carpenter Rhode Island, Your Name". From there they can create a free simple web page on www.webspawner.com where they can post their resume. I think it is a great way to help people looking for work. You yourself may not be interested in such a thing, but think about everyone in your life that could benefit. We also invite business owners to join under their business name preceded by "BIZ".
Thank you so much for reading.
Sincerely,
Bill Lowell

Excellent idea!

I like your blog very much too! The world needs more optimism these days.

When life hands you sh*t, make fertilizer.

Bring it on

If they want to steal my ID - let them, not much tread left. I'm looking for a cheap "store bought" life for the second round...............

I hear that

I'm thinking about a "street bought" life, the kind that you get from the shady characters who sell papers to illegal immigrants and spies. Of course, I guess that would make me an identity thief... shucks.

When life hands you sh*t, make fertilizer.
