K-Mart Does the Unemployed a Solid

Thanks to Dana for letting me know about this.

K-Mart is offering a discount card to unemployed people. If you are unemployed, you can get 20 percent off on 1,500 items.

The Kmart Smart Assist Card is a free savings initiative where unemployed
U.S. residents (with proof) can sign up and receive 20% off on more than
1,500 regularly priced, high-quality, own-brand grocery and drugstore staples
at Kmart for 6 months. Registration for the Kmart Smart Assist Savings Card
is private.

Of course this is a marketing ploy, but you know what? Who cares. If it helps unemployed people save some money, I'm all for it. The marketing ploy worked on me. I'm a K-Mart guy from here on in.

Oh -- and K-Mart is based in Michigan, arguably the state hardest hit by this recession/depression thing we're in. So that's good too.

Check it out.

In case you're wondering...

... no, I wasn't paid for the plug.

When life hands you sh*t, make fertilizer.

Awesome!

That is awesome they are doing that. Too bad K-MART moved out of the area like 7-8 years ago. Isn't K-mart operated/owned by Sears? I wonder if they are doing something similar.
