The vision for this forum....
What I hope will happen here is that people will basically ask for and offer help. Through these requests and offers, real alliances will be formed and real work accomplished.
This is about surviving every aspect of unemployment from the emotional and family issues to financial problems to job search support. It is and will always be free to use. If it goes as planned, it will be a great resource for people to vent, get and share advice. The only real rule is, "Be nice." While gratuitous spam will not be tolerated, I encourage unemployed people who are working on legitimate (i.e., not get-rich-quick) enterprises to promote their stuff here.
It's here to facilitate support and survival so please use it.
This remains as broad as possible for now. Interpret as you wish.
When life hands you sh*t, make fertilizer.
Yes, this will be a troll-free environment. Anyone being mean or stirring up garbage with no good reason will absolutely be banned. This is a place for support and growth. I'm drawing up the rules right now and will post them soon.
Thanks so much for your comment. It makes me feel like this project isn't just a complete waste of my time.
There are so many job and career forums out there, but none really dealing with the basic issue which is survival -- financial, mental, even physical. Unemployment sucks, but we can help each other get through it.

Chuck,
I hope this website will help the many millions out there that are under employed, or unemployed.
I hope it grows into a valuable tool for both job networking and emotional support.
Think about it? What did the unemployed do during the Great Depression?! This technology and means of communication was not available to that generation.
My story; I have been unemployed for almost 2 years. Hope that does not scare you all. I was working as an Administrative Assistant. I have a four year college degree. Yes, I am trying to find a new career, but I am not all that young and returning to school is not an option.
Chuck, just want to say I appreciate your tenacity in launching this website. I also want to tell you to protect it from trolls.
