EZ Cash
This is real market research -- it won't make you rich, but it will make you some cash and won't cost you anything but a little time.
My birthday!!
Hi all my birthday is this coming Friday and when I looked at the checking account I canceled it. I know I may sound like I am feeling sorry for myself, but it is hard to feel like celebrating when you have failed to meet your goals. I said at the beginning of March that I would be working by my 42nd birthday and now that it is just 3 days away I know that that will not happen. I am pissed because I feel that the need to find a job has put everything else in my life on hold.
In some ways, I just feel angry about being trapped in this horrible situation. I am able to pay but I hate how tight our budget has become. I can hardly wait until I am working and I can breath knowing that we have wiggle room in our budget. Maybe by some miracle I will hear back from one of the two interviews I went to last week.

Happy Birthday, fish!
Hate to break this to you, but you can't cancel your birthday. Why not do some work today? Seriously. You could use it as a sales hook. Swallow your pride, pick up the phone and call a bunch of businesses. Tell them your tale of woe, how you failed to meet your goal of working before your 42nd birthday and can hardly live with yourself over it, and see what shakes out. Make enough calls and you might be working -- even if only temporarily -- by Friday. It's a numbers game.
The call might go something like this, "Hi, this is fish."
fish: Hi, this is fish.
Them: Who?
fish: fish. What you don't know me? That's funny. Chuck Linart told me to give you a call. I thought he would have told you.
Them: Chuck who?
fish: Chuck Linart -- please don't tell me you don't know him!
Them: Nope, never heard of him.
fish: Oh darn. Well, anyway... (and proceed to tell them about yourself and the reason for your call. Don't laugh -- this technique can open a hell of a lot of doors.)
Happy birthday! Never say never, and never say die!

Chuck
I do have another interview tomorrow. I am just canceling all of the Birthday celebrations in effort to save money. Just treating it like any other day. I might celebrate when I land that elusive offer.

Saving money is good
Even if you have a job, frugality is awesome.
But you can still celebrate, y'know? Get together with somebody and toss a frisbee around or something.
Good luck with the interview.

Happy Birthday
Believe me when I say 'I know how you feel' but always remember that birthdays are a time to reflect back and say 'I made it this far, I can make it farther'.
There are probably many people who are glad you are in their lives and would like to wish you a Happy Birthday-- let them do that for you!
Good luck with your interview. :-)
Fish, good luck on the
Fish, good luck on the interview and happy BD! Belated?
Chuck, I just LOVE your ideas. Wow, you've got some guts, sir!
Thanks
No my B-day is tomorrow, I hope I will have something to celebrate by then. The interview was for a position that would require my relocating away from my family on a salary that would not even cover my cost of living. So on to other things. I hope that the two interviews from last week will amount to something. I doubt they will but I can always hope.

Update
Today went fairly well. Not bad for just any other day.
