Free courses online

Hey everybody,

I'm on the third week of my second new job this year, so there is hope. I'm still struggling mightily with anxiety that it's all going to come crashing down. But I'm climbing (slowly) back up that mountain again...

Wanted to let you all know about free courses available online. I am just starting one through Stanford called Intro to Databases. There are currently 68,000 people registered for the course. Anyway, I'm kind of doing this for work, but thought I'd post it here in case someone is interested. Here is the link - http://www.db-class.org/course/auth/welcome.

A number of universities are starting to do this. You don't get credit, but you will get a certificate if you do okay in the course.

Thanks for sharing, Jen!

Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel 2007 Training

Advanced Training and Development is offering free online Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 2007 training. Each course starts out with the fundamentals and provides a comprehensive overview of basic and advanced skills.

The courses are being used to investigate student experiences during online learning. In exchange for free training, we would appreciate it if you would spend less than an hour completing online surveys about your experiences in the course. Altogether, training and the surveys should take less than 5 hours.

If I had more time,

I would vet this before approving the above comment, but it seems like a straightforward enough deal. Get free training, take some surveys to help improve the final product.

I would caution everyone against providing too much personal information, and certainly don't give a credit card number. But if this is on the level, check it out.

If anyone investigates advancedtraininganddevelopment.com's offerings and finds them shady, please let me know.

Thanks,
Chuck
