Unemployed Workers of the World, Unite!

You have nothing to lose but your powerlessness!

Unemployed anger
I'm having a rough week -- downright cathartic -- as regular readers may have discerned. One of the things that is happening to me this week is an onrush of pure rage that is at once invigorating and frightening. It's not about what you might think, though.

Yes, there are people in my personal life who are pissing me off mightily, but as they are people I know and love, I am able to forgive them. This is just a bit of wind on the fire of anger that is really consuming me.

Yes, I am mad about the state of the world. It pisses me off to no end that bankers and scumbag politicians keep screwing us over, partying it up as the rest of us toil, flounder or both in a mad scramble to keep ourselves in house and home. This pisses me off. No doubt about it. It too is only an accelerant on the main flames.

You know what I'm really pissed off about? Me. You. Everybody who's sitting around Twittering, Facebooking, shopping, and blogging on the Internet, thinking we're so clever as the world disintegrates beneath our planted asses. How will the next generations despise us? Oh, let me count the ways!

Let's use this Internet thing to get together and spur action in the real world, God damn it! The stimulus funds are going straight into the pockets of health insurance company CEOs, courtesy of your joblessness. Instead of healthcare reform or stimulus, we're getting hosed! Doesn't this piss you off at all? Don't you think we should lean on our representatives and participate in our supposed democracy? We need warm bodies in the streets, people! We need to stop being afraid and start being ANGRY until the powers-that-be either make the changes we need or are deposed in disgrace. Ninety-nine percent of us -- more than 99 percent of us -- are getting doinked daily. Why? Because we're (and I count myself in this) not acting in the real world.

Hundreds of people read this blog every day. How many of you are the least bit interested in connecting, organizing, and effecting desperately needed change in the form, generally, of a more just distribution of wealth that will get money flowing again? I'm not saying we should soak high achievers, but things are so far out of hand. CEOs are grabbing $40 million bonuses even as their companies are tanking and workers are losing our jobs! We've sent $700 billion to bankers and gotten not one job in return. $350 billion in economic stimulus funds have apparently vanished into thin air, judging from the continued hemorrhaging of jobs and businesses.

Isn't anybody ready to say, "Enough! We need to make real change here!" Campaign slogans aren't enough. Are you listening?

Please don't misunderstand me: I'm not advocating communism. If anything, we need to get money flowing to entrepreneurs so that fresh ideas can take hold. If I had one measly million dollars to invest, I'd create 50 jobs this year, 100 jobs next year, and the sky would be the limit after that. Surely I'm not the only one in the country who has ideas but no capital.

That's beside the point, though. I'm not asking you for a million dollars. I'm asking you to get off your lazy rump and take concrete steps each day toward organizing with other people in the real world. We need to get back to government by, of, and for the people. That's all I'm saying.

If you want, you can join this site. I've done a lot of stuff on the back end to make it a pretty cool social networking platform, but people see it as a mere blog, I guess. Fair enough: It is a mere blog because nobody wants to use it for its intended purpose of effecting positive action in the real world.

Fine. But please do something else, OK? Do something!

I fight back all the time=they know I don't agree

I am pissed because on this National holiday, I'm still surfing for a job and going no where.
I also write (via the web) my senators, congressmen/women, reps.-get all kinds of responsive letters at 44 cents a whack dribbling a lot of deviant stuff why they vote the way the do, but as far as us out-numbering them, forget it. They're in it for themselves. I was an idealist and learned this too late. They don't give a crap about their constituents. We don't have the priviledge to know where their stocks are invested, and I betchya it ain't in American re-construction, right Senator Snowe, Senator Collins? both of Maine. What have they done to keep jobs in my late, great state of Maine-NOTHING! And they DARE TO SEND RESPONSE MAIL TO ME at 44 cents a whack. I toss it all, now w/out opening it and bombard their emails again!!!

The paper mills here up north are no more-I think there's two remaining. Where is paper being fabricated now? Why do we outsource paper refuse & recycling to China? All that garbage is going overseas on cargo ships, being recycled and re-fabricated, and sent RIGHT BACK HERE to where it got used in the first place. But the kicker is: IT'S CREATING THE NEW MILLIONAIRES! THE CHINESE !!! THANK YOU RICHARD NIXON-for opening that door for all of us. Peace talks my ass! That shit started in 1972 and here is the end result today. You should have been impeached just for that!-instead of forecasting that brilliant outcome, you stalked John Lennon instead. Talk about priorities....

"One of America's iconic skyscrapers has a new owner. Prudential Financial Inc. sold a 75% stake in the Chrysler Building to the Abu Dhabi Investment Council for a reported $800 million. The buyer, in the United Arab Emirates, is one of the world's largest sovereign wealth funds." In a nutshell, our leaders sold us out, including the soil my father and 4 brother's fought for (simultaneously) during WWII.

I'm not so sure we can do anything at this point-no matter who we vote in, they become corrrupt. POWER, Self-preservation & Wealth take over all their morals and social responsibility. Local gov't is the worst, too. You can see some idiot get elected or much worse-APPOINTED-in a small town position or local "board", some idiot who clearly isn't fit to shovel shit, gets a chair and humps it for "status", local contracting grifting, and THE worst , the ability to have the power to compell federal funds and bonds their great, great, great, greatest grandchildren will NEVER PAY OFF.
My suggestion to win this country back would be to: join 'em and then "coup" them, just like they did to us. That's how we can take back America.
Chuck! Take it easy! No one's going to get off Facebook, Twitter, the tv set or internet as long as they have a dime in their wallets and bite of food in their stomachs, until they have no wallet at all or they've finally gotten hungry. They won't act. Plus there's far too many playing the system successfully-unlike you & me, who've got no worries at all. This is so sad. My suggestion: contact them all via email to monitor their votes and voice your complaints via Congress.org.
God bless us all (*because we really need it)

Join 'em? Hell no.

On this Independence Day, I invoke my birthright, my free, brave, revolutionary American spirit, and say, "Enough!"

Today we have a whole new kind of independence to declare. I say we simply ignore them, build the good stuff, the new world, and treat them with forgiveness when they come groveling to us for help when their own system rots out completely from its own corruption.

We don't need them. They need us. I hereby DECLARE my DEPENDENCE on my brothers and sisters and stand with them in solidarity in building a new world in which there is plenty of work to do, and work aplenty for anyone willing to do it; a world in which we respect each other immensely since -- if I may borrow a phrase -- "All Men are created equal and endowed by their Creator (note: their mother if you see it that way) with certain in-alienable rights;" a world in which respect is earned by character and deed rather than by some fictitious number in a bank computer that says one can buy anything (up to a limit, the higher the better); a world in which we honor our mother Earth and preserve her for her future children, our own children and their children; a world in which we work hard and in which we are free to party and have fun in peace; (speaking of peace) a world in which peace, love, and generosity are venerated, and war, hatred, and greed actively frowned upon by all; a world in which we are governed, not ruled, by wise representatives chosen from among -- and by -- the people; a world in which both great ideas and great work are rewarded, and in which bad ideas and lousy work result in some degree of rehabilitation but not permanent economic excommunication.

something like that...

Chuck! Take it easy! No one's going to get off Facebook, Twitter, the tv set or internet as long as they have a dime in their wallets and bite of food in their stomachs, until they have no wallet at all or they've finally gotten hungry.

That's exactly why I can't take it easy.

At any rate, I'm not saying people should get off the internet or tv, just that they should use these tools to make things happen in the real world instead of solely as an escape from the real world.

When life hands you sh*t, make fertilizer.
