Federal jobs

Has anyone had any success in applying for Federal jobs? I've applied to 20 different positions but haven't heard a word on any of them. Is this process broken or am I doing something wrong?

fed jobs

I've been told that it takes more than 6 months for the feds to review applications. A friend who has a fed job told me you pretty much need to apply for jobs on USAjobs everyday. I don't know what you're looking for, but it helps to have your KSAs ready before you start. Check for the keywords and be sure to put them in your resume. Remember the resumes are scanned to look for the key words. If they're not in your resume, it won't get looked at. hope that helps. Good Luck!

As a military spouse I have applied and not gotten anywhere. I think the system is broken and have moved on to other sources. You can try USAJobs.com they have most of the postings.

Federal Jobs "Census 2010"

Since I heard "Laid Off" was coming to the company I applied for a Census Job, I also did the test in English and Spanish and scored 92 and 96 respectively, guess what?? they never call me; now I'm unnemployed and the funniest thing is that I can still see the "Census Jobs" advertisement, this make no sence to me.

I would also like to know

I gave up on Federal government jobs long ago because it seemed like such a waste of time to apply. It seems like the stimulus package should have created a lot of new fed jobs, but I guess it's not enough.

They're probably just overwhelmed with applications. Wait and see, I guess.

I wish the federal process went like the New York State process -- you take a test and if you score above a certain level, they have to interview you. It seems so much more fair and efficient that way. The only federal jobs that I know of that work that way are with the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer. I was actually studying for that test in 1999, then Bush became president and I realized that I could not, in good conscience, work to support those policies. Now I'm past the maximum age of eligibility. Oh well.

When life hands you sh*t, make fertilizer.
